Name That Tune - Ipswich Town News

The club are inviting fans to choose which tune is played to celebrate a Town goal at Portman Road. The Blues have drafted a list of eight potential tunes to be chosen for 2007/08.

For four years Tom Hark was used in this role until it was recently replaced with Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis.

Boss Jim Magilton told the club site that he wants a noisy Portman Road in 2007/08: "I really want the place rocking next season and I know that to achieve that, it will come down to us producing results on the pitch.

"As a player here, I experienced the atmosphere and noise that can be generated by our fans and I want my players to witness that every week here.

"Supporters probably underestimate the impact they can have on a football game and there have certainly been occasions when the fans have been our 12th man and dragged us over the line.

"So I'm in favour of anything that helps build up the noise at Portman Road and I like the idea of music being played when we've scored.

"It's been in the game for a few years now and adds to the occasion, but it's important that the fans decide what they want played. After all, they will be the ones jumping around to it, so it should be their choice."

The eight tunes proposed are Song Two by Blur, Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis, Tom Hark by The Piranhas, Pigbag by The Perfecto Allstars, I Feel Good by James Brown, Hi Ho Silver Lining by Jeff Beck, One Step Beyond by Madness and Amarillo by Tony Christie.

All the tubes will be played prior to Saturday's game with Derby County as well as on Tim Cole's The Big Drive Home show on SGR FM, his Saturday morning programme and on their website.

You can vote for your favourite via the frontpage of the club site. You can also nominate another tune to be added to the list by emailing fanzone@itfc.co.uk.

TWTD is setting up a new http://www.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=911&p=2&stid=8407765&url=sid=911>Town Topic to discuss other tracks to nominate and the merits/demerits of the eight tracks proposed.

The decision will be made prior to May 3rd with the winning tune revealed at the Cardiff match.
