Jim Not Appealing - Ipswich Town News

Town manager Jim Magilton has decided not to appeal against the two-match touchline ban and £500 fine dished out to him by the FA last week. Magilton had admitted a charge of abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official.

The Blues boss told the club site: "I feel the ban is very harsh, especially considering it's my first offence, but I have decided not to appeal."

Magilton's ban is effective from Monday, 23rd April which means he will watch the Leeds and Cardiff matches from the stands.

The Town manager was sent to the stands by referee Mark Clattenburg during last month's game at Preston North End.

The former Northern Ireland international was charged under FA Rule E3 after reacting angrily to Clattenburg adding only three minutes of injury time at the end of the second half in which there had been several stoppages.

Magilton made his thoughts known to the official as Preston prepared to take a late freekick close to the technical area and was sent to the unused terrace behind the dugouts.

After the game, the Town boss commented: "Where did he get three minutes from at the end? We had three subs and two injuries and he's supposed to be the rising star."

Magilton had until April 4th to request a personal hearing, but instead wrote a letter of apology to the FA, admitting his guilt. He had initially considered an appeal against the severity of his punishment when compared to similar offences by other managers.
