Smith and Icelander Out - Ipswich Town News
Academy defender Tommy Smith will miss the European U17 Championships due to his calf injury. Also almost certainly out of the tournament is Icelandic striker Kolbein Sigthórsson, a player due to be watched by the Blues and other English sides at the Belgium-based tournament.
Smith, who has already won five England U17 caps, is currently on crutches. The Macclesfield-born central defender opted to play for England ahead of New Zealand, where he lived between the ages of eight and 16.
Highly-rated striker Sigthórsson picked up a hip injury on Sunday and is expected to miss the entire tournament.
