Who Is It - Ipswich Town News

With another midfielder bid in the number of player links is sure to hit new highs. Over the weekend we have seen unlikely stories about Town signing Jamie Forrester from Northampton and Daniele Dichio from Sunderland and we are sure to hear even more.

We're not normally ones to throw a name into the ring, but we'd hazard a guess that Stephen Glass may be the man we are about to sign. We're only going on the fact that Glass has been long-linked with Town and the information this morning which suggested that the selling club won't sell until they have a replacement lined-up. That seemed to be the way that Bobby Robson worked when he was at Town. But, as we say, that's just our guess.

A suggestion on the Message Board is that the player might be from Sunderland, given that Peter Reid is apparently going off to Argentina to tie up deal for a new midfielder Nicolas Medina and Town were apparently watching their reserves against Blackburn on February 26th. Earlier this season Town were linked with Sunderland's Darren Williams, but given that he's a defender a move for him seems unlikely.

Looking at the Sunderland squad one name does jump out as a possible Burley target. Belgian midfield player Tom Peeters was linked with Town last season when he was at KV Mechelen. However, he's only been at Sunderland since last July, so a move might be pretty unlikely. However, if he's homesick then Ipswich is an awful lot nearer to home that Sunderland...
