Jeffers News Soon? - Ipswich Town News

Franny Jeffers will be allowed to leave Blackburn and will join the Blues within the next few days, according to a weekend tabloid report. Boss Jim Magilton has said signing the 26-year-old is his number one priority for the summer with the potential fee not believed to be beyond Town's means.

Blackburn's official standpoint remains that they will make their decision in the next few days with manager Mark Hughes saying late last week: "We have a few issues to resolve, but they will wait until after the final game against Reading on Sunday."

Jeffers has another year on his Ewood Park deal but has hardly featured since signing on a free transfer from Charlton last summer with at least five players ahead of him in the pecking order. The former Everton and Arsenal man has expressed his desire to join the Blues permanently if Blackburn are willing to allow him to leave.

Meanwhile, the Blues, QPR, Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Wigan are all linked with a move for veteran Hull City man Dean Windass. Town seem unlikely to target a 38-year-old, apparently priced at £150,000.

Elsewhere, Kieron Dyer is again being linked with a summer move to Spurs. Town are understood to be due an undisclosed sell-on should the England midfielder move for more than the £6.5 million the Magpies paid the Blues after the 28-year-old left Portman Road in 1999.
