Haynes Misses From Spot - Ipswich Town News

Striker Danny Haynes missed a penalty for England's U19s as Brian Eastick's side were defeated 2-1 by Holland at Coventry's Ricoh Arena on Thursday evening. Haynes, winning his fourth U19 cap, was named in the starting line-up for the second game in succession.

The Dutch were already in front via an own goal scored by Reading's Scott Golbourne prior to Haynes's spotkick right on half-time. The Town frontman had won the penalty himself after being fouled by Christian Supusepa. His kick was saved by Newcastle keeper Tim Krul.

Holland's Jordy Buijs was more successful from the spot on 71, with England finally pulling a goal back on 90 via West Ham's former Colchester loanee Hogan Ephraim.

England now have no chance of qualifying for this summer's finals in Austria. Their last elite group qualifier is on Sunday against the Czech Republic at Northampton.

England: Frank Fielding (Blackburn Rovers), Elliot Omozusi (Fulham) (Stephen Darby (Liverpool) 60), Scott Golbourne (Reading), Fabrice Muamba (Birmingham City) (Adam Hammill (Dumfermline) 28), Jack Hobbs (Liverpool), Michael Mancienne (Chelsea), Michael Johnson (Manchester City), Danny Haynes (Ipswich Town), Hogan Ephraim (West Ham), Craig Lindfield (Liverpool) (Chris Martin (Norwich City) 78), Rossi Jarvis (Norwich City).
