Town Discussing Games - Ipswich Town News

Town are discussing playing pre-season friendlies with Oxford United, Rushden and Diamonds and Chelmsford City in addition to the matches previously reported. However, the planned Portman Road match against Spurs has been scuppered by the North Londoners making a tour of South Africa.

Games at Burton Albion (July 10th), Kettering Town (July 12th) and Bury Town (July 27th) have already been scheduled.

Town continue to talk about the proposed tournament in Graz, Austria, but the Blues will have to look for new Premiership opposition to visit Portman Road with Spurs now making a trip to South Africa. The Blues plan one or two high profile home friendlies prior to the start of 2007/08.

Italian side Lazio still owe a friendly as part of the deal which saw Matteo Sereni join the Rome club back in 2003, but the Blues may choose to wait a year or so before asking the Italians to return for a second game. Last summer Lazio defeated the Blues 2-0 in the first of the two long-promised friendlies.

Meanwhile, former Town defender Hermann Hreidarsson has signed for Portsmouth on a free transfer. The Icelander had a clause in his contract which allowed him to leave Charlton for nothing if they were relegated.

Another ex-Blue, striker Nicky Forster, is being linked with a summer move from Hull City to Brighton and Hove Albion, who were recently reported to be keen on taking Dean Bowditch on loan for 2007/08.
