Knights on at Wembley - Ipswich Town News

On-loan striker Darryl Knights came on as a 72nd minute substitute as Yeovil Town were defeated 2-0 by Blackpool in the League One play-off final at Wembley on Sunday afternoon. Fellow Blue Martin Brittain was left out of the Glovers' 16.

Ex-Town star Marcus Stewart played the full 90 minutes and missed Yeovil's best chance when he bounced a header over the bar from close range with the goal gaping.

Knights looks likely to leave the Blues at the end of his contract this summer and is set to meet with manager Jim Magilton to discuss his future in the next few days. The Glovers are understood to have offered the FA Youth Cup winner a permanent deal.

Brittain, who joined Town on a free from Newcastle last summer, has already been told he will not be staying at Portman Road after this season.

The Blues now face their first trip to Blackpool's Bloomfield Road since a 1978/79 defeat in the League Cup, while the most recent league games between the clubs was back in 1970/71 when the Blues did the double over the Tangerines during the Lancastrian side's single season stay in the old First Division.
