Perry Linked - Ipswich Town News

Tabloid reports are linking Town with a summer move for veteran central defender Chris Perry. The 34-year-old has been released by West Bromwich Albion.

Perry is the second experienced centre-half linked in recent weeks with Kenny Cunningham, freed by Birmingham, also reported to be a target.

Carshalton-born Perry started his career with Wimbledon, moving on to Tottenham for £4 million in 1999 after eight years with the Dons.

Four seasons at White Hart Lane followed, before the 5ft 9in tall defender joined Charlton for a nominal fee after a loan spell. Last summer Perry switched to West Brom on a Bosman and made 27 appearances.

Elsewhere, Darren Bent's price is today claimed to be £18 million with West Ham apparently heading the pack of clubs after his signature. Town will be due 20% of the profit Charlton make on the £2.6 million they have paid the Blues for the England striker.

Former Blues skipper Matt Holland is reported to be a target of Championship side Leicester City.

Meanwhile, Town have revealed that season ticket sales have reached the14,000 mark with 760 first time ticket holders amongst that number. The total is around 1,400 down on last year's total, but the club are hopeful the eventual figure will be close to 15,000.
