Third Jeffers Bid? - Ipswich Town News

This morning's tabloids report that the Blues are preparing a third bid for Blackburn Rovers striker Franny Jeffers. The new offer is said to total £1 million including various add-ons.

Town have made two previous bids which Blackburn say haven't met their valuation of the one-time England international. Rovers are claimed to have put a £1 million price tag on the former Everton, Arsenal and Charlton striker.

It is not known whether Darren Bent's decision not to join West Ham will have any bearing on the Blues' ability to make an increased bid for Jeffers. Town would have received a £2.88 million sell-on had the Charlton striker moved to Upton Park.

However, Bent still looks certain to move on from the Valley at some point this summer with Liverpool reported to be keen by some of this morning's newspapers. Spurs are also interested but are yet to make a bid which meets Charlton's valuation.

Meanshile, reports in Coventry are once again linking Town striker Alan Lee with a move to the Sky Blues. A fortnight ago, Iain Dowie's club were reported to be ready to offer £400,000 for the Republic of Ireland international, however, Town boss Jim Magilton was adamant that the Blues' 2006/07 top scorer would remain at Portman Road.
