Knights Set for Glovers - Ipswich Town News

Striker Darryl Knights will reportedly join Yeovil Town on a free transfer next week. The Blues are understood to have released the 19-year-old with his contract up at the end of the month, although there has been no official confirmation that the FA Youth Cup winner is on his way out of Portman Road.

Knights spent time on loan at Huish Park at the end of last season, making five substitute appearances including one in the League One play-off final at Wembley.

The Ipswich-born frontman is believed to have been offered a one-year deal and is expected to sign on July 1st after his Town contract has expired.

Knights made one senior appearance for the Blues, as a sub at Sunderland in November 2004. The striker was one of the key players in Town's FA Youth Cup win in 2005.

Meanwhile, former skipper Matt Holland is set to sign a new deal at Charlton, despite interest from Leicester City.

Across the pond, Town legend Paul Mariner is tipped to be the new head coach at MLS club the Chicago Fire. Mariner is currently former Liverpool man Steve Nichol's assistant at the New England Revolution, a position he has held for four years.
