Bent Fee Agreed - Ipswich Town News

Charlton are reported to have accepted a fee which could rise to £16.5 million from Tottenham for ex-Town striker Darren Bent. TWTD reported overnight that the summer transfer saga involving the former Blue was close to an end.

Town are due 20% of the profit the Addicks make on the £2.6 milllion they paid for the England striker. The reported figure of £16.5 million, yet to be confirmed by either club, would net the Blues £2.78 million, although it is understood that some of the quoted £16.5 million is in the form of add-ons, presumably payable on appearances, goals and England caps.

An initial fee in the £14-£15 million range seems likely, which would see the Blues receive something between £2.28 million and £2.48 million now with further cash due as the top-ups are triggered.

Bent is expected to talk about personal terms this evening and will undergo a medical on Friday.
