Peters and Canada Lose - Ipswich Town News

Jaime Peters and Canada's FIFA U20 World Cup campaign got off to a disappointing start last night as they were defeated 3-0 by Chile in Toronto. Peters was winning his 27th cap at U20 level.

The Town winger admitted his side was second best throughout: "They were the better team today.

"They watched their video, they did their job off the field and they brought it on to the field. They were just the better team in the day. We just have to put it behind us and work hard on what we do best.”

Canada will hope to put in better displays in their remaining group games against Austria (Thursday) and Congo (Sunday). All matches at the U20 World Cup are streamed live and for free via FIFA's website.

A quiet Sunday and Monday on the Town transfer rumour front, although Spanish sources again report that Pablo Couñago will rejoin the Blues now that his Málaga is up.

The start of July will see players moving on free transfers signing deals with their new clubs. Released Blues striker Darryl Knights is likely to put pen to paper on a one-year contract at Yeovil Town, possibly as soon as today.

Former Blue Kieron Dyer has been linked with a move to Chelsea, although Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce has insisted the England midfielder will remain in the North-East.

Town would receive another sell-on windfall if Dyer moves for more than the £6.5 million which took the 28-year-old to St James' Park in 1999. The Blues' percentage of any profit Newcastle make on the deal has never been disclosed but is likely to be in the region of 10-20%.

Town's squad have been given the week off before taking their five-day training trip to Loughborough University next Monday. Manager Jim Magilton is spending this week studying for his UEFA ‘A' Licence in Belfast.
