Hull After Lee? - Ipswich Town News

Reports in East Yorkshire are again linking Hull City with a move for Town striker Alan Lee. The Tigers have been repeatedly linked with the Republic of Ireland international over the last few weeks.

Hull are claimed to have made offers for two strikers with a local radio station reporting that Cork City frontman Roy O'Donovan and Lee are boss Phil Brown's targets.

Speculation has surrounded Lee's future all summer with Coventry and Preston also linked, but the Blues have insisted on a number of occasions that the 28-year-old, who scored twice in last night's friendly at Burton, will be staying at Portman Road.

Yesterday, Preston boss Paul Simpson denied his club has made an approach for the former Rotherham and Cardiff man: "That's not true, Alan Lee is not a player I have enquired about. I am not saying he isn't a good player, but he is not the one I am after.”

Meanwhile, chairman David Sheepshanks hasn't ruled out Franny Jeffers returning to Town at some point in the future, despite Town's lengthy attempts to sign the striker breaking down over his £10,000-a-week wage demands: "There is no prospect of a loan deal with Franny right now, but I would not rule it out. He is a super player and we like him very much.”

Sheepshanks has also commented on reports earlier in the week linking Town with an approach to released Cardiff keeper Neil Alexander: "We are aware of Neil Alexander but we have not made an offer and there is nothing in the pipeline on that.”

Elsewhere, former Town trialist Vinnie Faherty has joined Eircom League club Galway United from youth side Salthill Devon. Striker Faherty spent two spells on trial with the Blues earlier in the year, scoring twice in a behind-closed-doors reserves friendly with Millwall.
