Mogga Issue - Ipswich Town News

Whether Tony Mowbray takes his place in the Town defence on Sunday is the burning issue for Town fans at the moment. With John McGreal suspended the Player/Coach seems the favourite to come into the side. Other options include bringing in dropped Frenchman Manu Thetis or a move to 4-4-2 with Mark Venus and Wayne Brown taking up the two centre-half spots.

Elsewhere it seems possible that Tuesday's goal culprit Jamie Clapham may be dropped with new boy Gary Croft making his Town debut. Clapham has once again had a quiet start to the season (a couple of excellent free-kicks aside) as he did last year. In fact he found himself dropped at a similar point in the season then, missing a couple of games before winning his place back.

Other possible changes may be Wilnis for Stockwell and Jermaine Wright for Jim Magilton. Wilnis missed Town's game with Crewe through a virus, which apparently had caused him to be sick at half-time during the Birmingham game (not surprised he had a quiet second half). Magilton replaced Wright on Tuesday, but still didn't seem to be at his best.

Town have no injury worries for the game which kicks off at 1pm and is on Sky. It might also be worth mentioning that pubs don't open 'til 12 on a Sunday so don't get caught out and wander the streets of Ippo for a thirsty hour until the portals of ecstasy finally swing open.

Sunday also sees the official beginning of Town's association with the Britannia Building Society who now sponsor the West Stand. There will be all the usual sorts of thing that happen on these occasions including an appearence by the Samba Band which graced the North Stand on a number of occasions last year. They will be playing before the game and afterwards, but not during. The seats of the West Stand will also spell out the name of the building society. Can't wait.

Town reserve striker Neil Midgley has gone on loan to Luton Town for a month. The 21 year-old has scored regularly for the reserves, but is yet to make a first team appearence. A month playing Second Division football will give him a chance to prove to George Burley that he is at least worth a place on the bench.
