Williams in Trouble - Ipswich Town News

Town midfielder Gavin Williams is reported to have been ordered to pay for £3,000 of damage he inflicted on team-mate Ian Miller's car. The former West Ham and Yeovil man, linked with Stoke City yesterday, is now claimed to be interesting Birmingham City.

The incident with Miller's Audi TT is said to be a prank which went awry, but is unlikely to have endeared the Wales international to boss Jim Magilton. Additionally, Williams and Gary Roberts were spoken to by club officials at Monday's club barbecue at Glemham Hall after signing the names ‘Pele' and ‘Bobby Moore' on shirts set for charity auction.

Magilton's relationship with Williams, who has a reputation as a prankster, has been the subject of speculation since the winter, with the Welshman one of the members of the squad which made the unauthorised trip to Amsterdam.

In January, Williams told the Welsh press that Magilton had made him available at the right price. Swansea were linked but Town's £1 million valuation was beyond the League One club. The latest incidents could well bring Williams's Portman Road exit nearer.

Stoke City were claimed to be ready to offer £400,000 for the midfielder, who is still out injured with a pelvic problem, earlier in the week, although this has been denied by Town. Birmingham City are the latest club to be linked, with Steve Bruce said to be willing to pay £500,000. Williams celebrates his 27th birthday on Friday.
