Town in Navas Fee Talks - Ipswich Town News
Reports in Spain say Town are already in talks with Málaga regarding the permanent signing of trialist César Navas. The 27-year-old made his first appearance for the Blues in Tuesday's 5-1 hammering of Crawley Town.
A number of Spanish newspapers are reporting that Town have offered Málaga €600,000 (£400,000) for the 6ft 4in-tall centre-half, however, the Boquerones want €1 million (£670,000) for Navas, who has a year left on his contract.
Town are understood to have previously sent scouts to Spain to watch Navas, who was a team-mate of Pablo Couñago during his spell at Málaga, and negotiations are expected to continue.
In January, Málaga were reported to have turned down an £800,000 bid for Navas from Sunderland, while Reading were also linked with the Madrid-born defender.
Navas, who spent much of 2006/07 on loan with relegated La Liga side Gimnà stic de Tarragona, played 64 minutes of Town's friendly at Crawley and is due to remain with the club for the rest of the week.
