Jim: Menessou Impressed - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Jim Magilton was impressed with French trialist Arsène Menessou during Tuesday's friendly at Crawley Town. The 19-year-old right-back played 72 minutes of the Blues' 5-1 victory.

Magilton said: "Arsène impressed and did enough to be involved in Friday's game at Bury Town.

"He warrants another crack and could well be involved in our trip to Antwerp next week.”

Fellow trialist César Navas will miss out at Bury due to the suspected cracked metatarsal he picked up at Crawley. Town are awaiting the results of an X-ray.

Better news is that Gavin Williams may be involved for the first time this pre-season at Bury as he continues his recovery from his long-term pelvic problem. If he doesn't play at Ram Meadow, then the Welshman may be OK for Tuesday's trip to Royal Antwerp.

Defender Ian Miller is expected to captain a strong Town side against his former club, the match having been arranged as part of the deal which saw the 23-year-old join Town last season. Miller will rejoin Darlington on loan at the beginning of the season.

Lewis Price will get his first pre-season outing at Bury with no permanent move seemingly on the cards as yet, despite continuing links with Derby County. Boss Jim Magilton says Price could go out on loan if no longer term deal can be done.

If Williams and Price play at Bury, Dean Bowditch will be the only member of Magilton's squad yet to take part in a pre-season game. The striker underwent groin surgery earlier in the summer and is expected to get back into match action within the next fortnight.
