Lambe in Squad for Bury - Ipswich Town News

Town have named Bermudian first-year scholar Reggie Lambe in the squad for tonight's friendly at Bury Town, as predicted by TWTD yesterday (KO 7.45pm). Also in the 17-man party are Gavin Williams, Matt Richards, Owen Garvan, Danny Haynes, Jaime Peters and George O'Callaghan.

Skilful attacking midfielder Lambe only recently joined the Blues' academy full-time after impressing in a number of trial spells at Playford Road. Lambe, who went to school in New York, was recommended to Town by a contact of club director Holly Bellingham.

Gavin Williams plays his first game of pre-season as he continues his recovery from his pelvic problem, while Matt Richards missed last week's matches after suffering a minor problem in a previous friendly.

The game is the first of five annual friendlies organised as part of the deal which saw Ian Miller join Town from Bury a year ago. The 23-year-old impressed in a friendly between the two teams last pre-season - arranged as part of Liam Trotter's move from Bury's youth set-up to Town's - and then did enough in a trial to be offered a contract at Portman Road.

Miller, who will rejoin Darlington on loan for the first half of the season, is expected to captain the Blues against his old side.

Spanish defender Sito is in the squad after completing a week on trial at Yeovil, but there is no place for French trialist Arsène Menessou.

The right-back, who previously played his football with Le Havre's reserve side in CFA2, the French fifth division, impressed Jim Magilton at Crawley on Tuesday and was expected to get another run-out at Ram Meadow.

Promising academy second-year scholars Jordan Rhodes, Tommy Smith, Kurt Robinson, Andy Plummer and Ed Upson are also in the party, although midfielder Jai Reason is out with damaged ankle ligaments.

Fans are advised to arrive at Ram Meadow early as a large 2,000-plus crowd is expected.

Squad: Clarke, Garvan, Haynes, I Miller, Lambe, O'Callaghan, Peters, Plummer, Rhodes, Richards, Robinson, Sito, Supple, Synnott, Smith, Upson, G Williams.
