Williams Wants New Deal - Ipswich Town News

Midfielder Gavin Williams says he wants to start talks regarding a new Town contract. The Wales international came through Friday's friendly at Bury Town without feeling pain from the pelvic injury which has affected him since last season.

Williams says he has no intention of leaving the Blues and even wants to extend his stay: "I have always maintained that I am happy at Ipswich, and I want to get fully match fit and then sit down and discuss signing a new contract.

"My current one runs out in 2009 and I would be delighted if I could extend it to say, 2012.”

Williams signed for the Blues from West Ham in January 2006 for £300,000 after a successful loan spell.

Meanwhile, Darlington boss Dave Penney has revealed that the Blues will not be able to recall Ian Miller during his half-season loan with the Quakers: "We knew that if he wasn't going to be involved with Ipswich during pre-season then he was going to come here.

"Ipswich just want him out for games because he's not going to be involved with them.

"They can't drag him back at 24 hours notice so we will have him until January. We want him in the building without that proviso that he can go back within 24 hours.

"It would be nice to have him here permanently, but I think Ipswich will want him back at some point."

Miller, who joined the Blues from Bury Town last September, signed a new one-year contract at the end of last season.
