Lee Agrees New Deal - Ipswich Town News

Striker Alan Lee has agreed to sign a deal which will keep him with the Blues until at least 2009. The Republic of Ireland international was offered new terms in the wake of Hull City's interest in last season's 17-goal top scorer.

Lee's new two-year deal will take him up to the end of the 2008/09 season with the possibility of an extra year in addition to that. The 28-year-old's current Town deal was up in June 2008.

Boss Jim Magilton told the club site: "We have been talking to Alan about a new contract over the last few weeks and I'm delighted that everything has now been agreed.

"There has been speculation about his future lately, but Alan was our top scorer last season and is a valuable member of our first team squad. We have always made it clear that we wanted to keep him here at Portman Road."

Lee's new Town deal would seem to be the final nail in the coffin for Hull's attempts to sign the former Rotherham and Cardiff City man. The Tigers had bids of £400,000 and £600,000 turned down by the Blues but continued to push their interest even as recently as earlier today.
