Dartford 1-3 Town - Ipswich Town News

Gary Roberts, Billy Clarke and George O'Callaghan scored the goals as the Blues defeated Dartford 3-1 in their final pre-season friendly at Princes Park. Clarke was again an impressive performer and was unlucky not to score more than the single goal.

Roberts, hoping to win back his place on the left of midfield after Gavin Williams's injury, put Town ahead with a shot from close range on 34.

Clarke added to the lead with a curling effort from the edge of the area 10 minutes after the break, before the Ryman League Division One North side pulled a goal back from a freekick, Shane Supple getting hand to the ball but unable to prevent it from crossing the line.

George O'Callaghan, along with Clarke and Sito amongst Town's better performers, netted a low left-foot shot two minutes from the end. Roberts failed to put in the kind of display which would immediately push him into the Blues' first team for the weekend opener against Sheffield Wednesday.

Town: Supple, Sito (Watson 75), Synnott, Casement, Wilnis (Murphy 69), Trotter (Rhodes 51), O'Callaghan, Legwinski (Upson 65), Richards, Clarke, Roberts (C Williams 81). Unused: Plummer. Att: 649.
