Town After Albrechtsen? - Ipswich Town News

Town are being linked with a move for West Brom defender Martin Albrechtsen. The Dane is understood to be out of favour at the Hawthorns and expected to leave Tony Mowbray's club.

The 27-year-old Danish international can play all across the backline and could be seen as an ideal candidate to come in on loan while Richard Naylor and Spanish central defensive target César Navas are out injured.

Naylor recently underwent a toe operation and is out for three months, while Navas has a broken metatarsal and will be sidelined for another five to seven weeks. Town are continuing to monitor the Málaga defender's progress and could swoop prior to the end of the transfer window depending on his fitness.

Albrechtsen started his career at AB Copenhagen, making his senior debut in 1998, before moving on to FC Copenhagen in 2002.

The 6ft 1in tall defender spent two years at Parken before joining to West Brom for a fee of £2.5 million. Albrechtsen has won Danish caps at U19 and U21 level, in addition to four senior international appearances.

Meanwhile, boss Jim Magilton is reported to have dismissed Birmingham newspaper claims yesterday linking the Blues with a loan move for West Brom's Darren Carter. Norwich City are again mentioned in connection with the midfielder by this morning's papers.
