Kuqi Linked With Return - Ipswich Town News

Town are keen on re-signing striker Shefki Kuqi from Crystal Palace, according to a Sunday tabloid. The Finnish international is understood to be available at a cut-price fee.

Kuqi, who joined Palace from Blackburn a year ago for a fee which could rise to £2.5 million with add-ons, played the final 28 minutes for the Eagles on Saturday as James Scowcroft's hat-trick helped them to a 4-1 victory at Southampton.

Town are once again being linked with West Ham central defender Calum Davenport. Previous reports have suggested a loan move, but the latest story claims the Blues will look to sign the former Spurs man on a permanent basis with the asking price said to be approaching the £1 million mark.

The Blues are in the market for another central defender with Richard Naylor out for three months having undergone toe surgery and Jason De Vos continuing to have problems with his foot even after an operation over the summer and describes his fitness as "a game by game situation”.

Town continue to monitor the progress of Málaga defender César Navas as he recovers from a broken foot sustained during his trial spell with the Blues. Navas is unlikely to play before the end of September, but Town could still decide to sign him before the end of the August transfer window and may perhaps take a player on loan while the Spaniard reaches full fitness.
