Murphy Wins First Cap - Ipswich Town News
Academy striker Paul Murphy won his first Republic of Ireland U17 cap as his side defeated Belarus 2-0 at a friendly tournament in Lithuania.
Murphy, who was amongst this summer's intake of full-time scholars, went close with a 25-yard first half strike and also forced a fine save from the Belarusian keeper. Darragh Satelle from Crumlin United netted both goals.
The Ireland youngsters play the hosts on Tuesday with the final and play-off match on Thursday. The tournament is a warm-up ahead of a European U17 Championships qualifying mini-group, which the Irish are hosting in September.
