Arsenal Next for Youths - Ipswich Town News

Town's victorious youths will meet Arsenal in a two-legged FA Youth Cup semi-final on dates as yet to be confirmed. The Gunners' kids beat Aston Villa on Tuesday night and are formidible opponents.

They are last season's winners and include some of the players who faced Town earlier in the season in the reserves and Worthington Cup matches, such as midfielder Moritz Volz.

Last season Arsenal beat Coventry in the two-legged final when their side included players like Jay Bothroyd (ironically now at Coventry) and David Noble, scorer of a spectacular goal for Arsenal's reserves against Town earlier this season. In the final the Gunners won 3-1 away before completing the job with a 2-0 win at home. Both final games were (and presumably will be again) in front of live Sky cameras.

Town's squad, however, is their most impressive in years and with a good crowd behind them (perhaps more than the 2,000 who turned up last night) in the home leg there is no reason why we can't reach our first FA Youth Cup final since 1975.
