Town Watch Reid Again - Ipswich Town News

Town boss Jim Magilton and coach Steve Foley were at Upton Park on Wednesday to watch West Ham youngster Kyel Reid in action in the Carling Cup against Plymouth.

TWTD first revealed the Blues' interest in the left winger after chief scout Steve McCall watched the Hammers' reserves in action last month.

The Town pair had left prior to Reid creating the winning goal for Dean Ashton and is yet to make an offer for the ex-Barnsley loanee.

Magilton says he is waiting on a Premiership club regarding one of his loan targets: "We keep getting assurances that as soon as a player becomes available we are first in line, but at the moment, with Premier League clubs involved in so many competitions, they are reluctant to let their players go out on loan.”

While a left-sided midfielder is amongst Magilton's targets, bringing in a central defender on loan is also one of the Town manager's priorities at present.

Meanwhile, talks between the Blues and Gavin Williams regarding a new contract have been put on hold while the Welshman continues his recovery from injury. The discussions regarding a new deal which would keep Williams at Town until 2012 began in the summer and much of the new contract has been agreed.

Negotiations are expected to continue once the former West Ham, Yeovil and Hereford man is over his ankle ligament injury. The 27-year-old, whose current deal sees him up to June 2009, will start jogging next week and is now targeting a return to action in November.
