This Weekend's Links - Ipswich Town News
The tabloids are reporting that Town are about to try to persuade Southampton to part with star striker James Beattie. Apparently we are to offer them £3.5 million for the striker who has gone goal crazy this season.
Beattie has failed to agree new terms with the Saints and wants a reported £20,000 a week while Southampton are only prepared to offer him around the £5000 a week mark. Let's say we won't be surprised if there is a denial issued from Portman Road early this week.
Elsewhere the link from the end of last week with Dundee's Gavin Rae is repeated. Sources in Scotland claim that George Burley is about to table a bid of £3 million, but Dundee boss Ivano Bonetti is likely to turn it down as he wants £10 million. It is doubtful Town would offer anything like that mark, so unless Bonetti lowers his valuation to a figure much lower a deal looks unlikely.
Another tabloid reports that we may be about to make a move for Leeds' midfielder Jason Wilcox. Again we won't be surprised if this doesn't happen.
