Boss Jim Magilton praised his entire team after a 3-0 victory over Wolves which he described as the best of the 10 successive home win streak.
Magilton said: "After a jittery opening 15 minutes, to a man, including the players who came on, we were terrific. I was proud of them.
"Wolves started very high on confidence and it showed. Our crowd gained inspiration from Neil Alexander's penalty save and after that we worked very hard against a very good side.
"The players showed fantastic character and I can't praise them enough for their attitude and commitment against a very good Wolves side.
"It was probably the best result in our run of 10 successive home wins because of the quality of the opposition.
"Tight games are turned by moments of magic and we scored three high class goals.
"It was a terrific finish by Alan Lee, while Pablo Couñago wriggled through to produce a wonderfully composed finish. Then Danny Haynes added a great goal to round off the match in style.
"It's been a productive week for us with six points from two hard games and now we can look forward to a big match next weekend, the derby at Norwich."
Mick McCarthy felt the penalty miss was a major factor in his side's performance dropping after a strong early spell: "We started very well and were far and away the better side and won a penalty.
"Certainly, the fact that we didn't score from the spot had a big effect on the game.
"Ipswich took their chances and Alan Lee stayed on his feet and did what a good striker does.
"Their two up front caused more trouble to us than our two did to them, which was why I made a change at the interval and withdrew Freddy Eastwood."
The former Republic of Ireland boss slammed his backline for conceding the Blues' second goal: "It was awful defending to let Pablo Couñago score the second - I don't know how he got through.
"Once it was 2-0 the exertions from earlier in the week started to become evident and some players were running on empty.
"We caused our own downfall by giving Ipswich opportunities to score."
