Garvan Injures Calf - Ipswich Town News
Midfielder Owen Garvan may be forced to pull out of the Republic of Ireland U21 squad after suffering a calf injury during the 6-0 hammering of Bristol City on Saturday. Striker Alan Lee is set for a scan after limping off with an achilles problem during the first half.
Garvan is due to play for the Republic in European Championships qualifiers against Montenegro on Friday in Podgorica and then Bulgaria in Athlone four days later. Striker Billy Clarke is in the squad for the Bulgaria game.
Town have a number of other players set for international action over the next fortnight. Defender Chris Casement is with the Northern Ireland U21s, who play Luxembourg on Friday and Moldova on the following Tuesday, with both games at Mourneview Park, Lurgan.
Hat-trick hero Jon Walters and defender Alex Bruce are both in the Republic of Ireland B squad for a friendly with Scotland at the Excelsior Stadium, Airdrie a week on Tuesday.
Academy midfielder Ed Upson is in the England U19 squad playing a friendly with Germany in Elversberg this Wednesday.
Defender Tommy Smith is in the England U18 squad for a friendly with Ghana at Gillingham's Priestfield Stadium on Tuesday week. Striker Jordan Rhodes is on standby.
