Reserves Thrash Peterborough - Ipswich Town News

Jordan Rhodes scored twice and Dean Bowditch, Liam Trotter and Gary Roberts were also on the scoresheet as Town's reserves defeated Peterborough 5-1 at London Road. Gavin Williams came through 75 minutes of his second game since returning to action after ankle ligament damage.

Rhodes put the Blues two in front with goals on 11 and 33 before the home side pulled one back. Liam Trotter added Town's third three minutes prior to the break.

Dean Bowditch continued his good run of reserves goalscoring form with a penalty in the 89th minute after Gary Roberts had been felled. Roberts completed the scoring a minute into injury time.

Town were well on top throughout despite never really hitting top gear, with keeper Andy Plummer making only one significant save.

Jordan Rhodes looked very sharp prior to being replaced with 15 minutes remaining, perhaps with a view to going back out on loan later in the week.

Fabian Wilnis was solid at the back, while Gary Roberts was generally quiet despite his late goal. Gavin Williams unsurprisingly looked a little rusty in what was only his second match since injuring ankle ligaments in the pre-season game with Panathinaikos.

The Blues were watched by manager Jim Magilton and first team coach Bryan Klug, while former Town striker John Deehan and Stevenage Borough boss Peter Taylor were also at the game.

Reserves: Andrew Plummer, Sito, Fabian Wilnis, Michael Synnott, Kurt Robinson, Ed Upson, Liam Trotter, Gavin Williams (Jai Reason 75), Gary Roberts, Dean Bowditch, Jordan Rhodes (Paul Murphy 75). Unused: Paul Watson, Lewis Ward, Joe Clemo.
