Magilton to Captain Country - Ipswich Town News
Jim Magilton will captain Northern Ireland in Saturday's game against the Czech Republic if he recovers from a groin injury. With Steve Lomas and Gerry Taggart both out Magilton is Sammy McIlroy's choice to take over the armband. The injury is not thought to be too serious, although he missed training today.
The Northern Ireland manager said that the position will be confirmed later in the week: "Jim Magilton has been my captain when the other two have not been available. Jim is in my thoughts although he has a slight groin strain at the moment. It's not a big problem, we're just being careful and we'll look at the captaincy on Thursday or Friday."
