Burchill Desperate to Stay With Celtic - Ipswich Town News

Town loan signing Mark Burchill has said he is deperate to stay with Celtic. The Scot has also said he isn't as impressed with the Premiership as he thought he'd be.

Burchill was speaking from the Scotland U21 camp ahead of their game with Belgium. The on-loan striker said: "Celtic are going to be playing in the Champions' League so they are going to need a bigger squad. I've just got to look at all the options open to me. I'm a Celtic fan and a Celtic player, nothing will change until I sign on the dotted line for someone else. If it can work out with the club, I'm desperate to stay - everyone knows that."

Of the Premiership he said: "I had the perception when I went to England that every player I was going to play was going to be brilliant but that's not the case at all. They are just human beings as well. But my game has definitely benefitted, learning from all the different players."

However, he has been impressed by the management skills of George Burley and Tony Mowbray: "Ipswich are doing really well. We've got a good bunch of boys and George Burley and Tony Mowbray know what they are talking about. They have been there and done it. But I don't find it a big difference playing in England. It's about yourself and you have to try to fit in with it."

Burchill is with Town until the end of the season and their had been talk of him staying long-term. With him seemigly wanting to sort things with Celtic this looks less likely. He has started two games for Town and has made another two substitute appearances, scoring one goal.
