Hayden Seeks Town Place - Ipswich Town News

Recently released Colchester full-back Nicky Hayden was the surprise face at Town's pre-season training last week. Hayden was at Colchester during George Burley's short reign at the club in 1994. Town need at least one full back as cover with only Jamie Clapham, Fabian Wilnis and John Kennedy specialists in that position.

Saturday's Evening Star reported that Town are looking to sign the 'new Mauricio Taricco'. This rather cheering story failed to mention the name of the player involved, although it was understood that a fee would be involved. The player, like Mauricio, has an Italian passport and thus would not require a work permit. We await further developments.

Bobby Petta's destination has still not been annonced. He says that he has agreed terms with another club in England but is not saying who it is. Throughout the season he has been linked with Celtic and Fulham, and Craven Cottage seems the most likely destination for tumble-about winger. After all his mate and fellow Bosman rebel Gus Uhlenbeek is already there. Oh and they've got loads of cash.
