Halmosi Linked - Ipswich Town News

Town are reported to be one of a number of clubs chasing Plymouth Argyle left midfielder Péter Halmosi. Premier League side Wigan Athletic are claimed to be the frontrunners for the Hungarian's signature.

According to a national newspaper, the Blues, Latics, Leicester City and Wolves have all been keeping an eye on the 28-year-old.

Wigan, given their Premier League status, are said to be the favourites to land the ex-Debreceni player and will make a £2 million bid in January. Wolves were previously understood to have offered £1 million for the midfielder, who has won 17 Hungarian caps.

Halmosi's name has been mentioned on the TWTD Message Board as a potential Town target on a number of occasions since news of Marcus Evans's takeover became known, but as far as we're aware this is the first time the former Haladás and Grazer AK man has been linked with the Blues in the media.

Boss Jim Magilton seems certain to add a left midfielder to his squad in January with Blackpool's Wes Hoolahan also linked. Earlier in the season, Magilton confirmed that the Blues were watching West Ham youngster Kyel Reid with a view to a possible loan signing.
