Peeters Link Surfaces Again - Ipswich Town News

Belgian international Bob Peeters has once again been linked with Town with the striker claiming the Blues have been tracking him. Peeters, 27, who crossed the ball for Belgium's equalising goal against Scotland on Saturday, has admitted he wants to play in the Premiership before his career ends.

Peeters said: "My goal is to play in the Premier League when I am 28 or 29 years old, and I know that Ipswich Town has been following me for a while."

His manager at Vitesse Arnhem Guido Mallants added: "There have been contact with more clubs which is not so strange because there will always be interest in the type of striker Bob is."

He is a physical type of striker who previously played for in Belgium for Lierse and moved to Holland to play for Roda JC Kerkrade joining Vitesse from there last summer. He has made six appearances for his national side and has scored four goals, including a hat-trick in the recent 10-1 win over San Marino.

With transfer deadline day last Thursday any move Town might make would have to be in the summer in preparation for next season. With Mark Burchill seemingly nailing his colours to Celtic the Blues may well feel the need to move for another striker.

Meanwhile it is reported that George Burley was in Stavanger, Norway at the weekend and watched the Norwegian U21s lose 2-1 against Poland. The target is reported to be 20-year-old Erlend Hanstveit, a defender from Brann Bergen who previously played for Fotlandsvåg IL and Osterøy IL. Any thoughts on him from any of our Norwegian readers?

Neil Midgley and Wayne Brown made their debuts for their new clubs at the weekend. Midgley came on in the 66th minute as his new side lost 3-0. Former Town man Stuart Niven was a non-playing substitute.

Wayne Brown played a full game as QPR lost 2-1 to Burnley.
