Enquiry for Second New Player - Ipswich Town News

Boss Jim Magilton says he has made an enquiry regarding a second new signing having previously revealed he has already lodged a bid ahead of the start of the transfer window tomorrow.

Magilton told the club site: "We have made an offer for a player and are waiting for a response.

"If things get sorted very quickly then the player may even be here in time for the West Brom game, although that is unlikely.

"We have also enquired about another player and we will see where that leads us."

Meanwhile, chairman David Sheepshanks has backed Magilton as the Blues start to spend some of Marcus Evans's cash: "Jim Magilton is doing a fantastic job and now is the time to give him our full support and backing.

"We are sitting here now with the ability to improve things - and we will. We are in a position to invest in players of the calibre to make a big difference. For the first time for many years we are in a position to buy at a higher level.

”This group of players has done very well and after a couple of bad results now is not the time to throw in the towel. However, we will use the investment money wisely.”

Elsewhere, Sammy Moore and Ian Miller end their loan spells at Brentford and Darlington tomorrow. Moore has impressed with the Bees and could be on his way to Leeds in the transfer window, as revealed by TWTD back in October.

Miller has rarely been involved during his second loan period with the Quakers and a third spell in the North-East looks unlikely. However, it would be little surprise if the former Bury Town man were to make another short-term move elsewhere when the transfer window reopens.

Former Town defender Scott Mitchell has signed for Peterborough United after a trial. Mitchell left Livingston by mutual consent earlier in the season for personal reasons.
