Haynes Link One of Many Tabloid Rumours - Ipswich Town News

Town feature heavily in Sunday's tabloids with rumours that Danny Haynes is a target of Everton, West Ham United and Wigan Athletic, as well as claims that the Blues are eyeing Burnley's Andy Gray and Cardiff City's Paul Parry, while Dundee United keeper Grzegorz Szamotulski is again linked.

Haynes is said to be rated at £2 million by the Premier League trio with a bidding war said to be on the cards. Everton were linked with Haynes back in April, while Wigan boss Steve Bruce was claimed to be targeting the former Charlton schoolboy earlier in the season while manager of Birmingham City.

TWTD reported Town's possible targeting of Burnley's Andy Gray earlier in the week and, according to this morning's reports, will face opposition from Cardiff for the 30-year-old if they firm up their interest.

Town, Norwich City, Coventry City and Leicester City are reported to be interested in £700,000-rated Cardiff midfielder Paul Parry. The Wales international scored the only goal when the Bluebirds defeated Town earlier in the season.

The Blues are again linked with a move for Dundee United keeper Grzegorz Szamotulski with Shane Supple claimed to be joining the Terrors on loan for the rest of the season. Earlier in the week, Jim Magilton denied any interest in the Polish international, who is also understood to be interesting Crystal Palace, Cardiff and Plymouth.

Meanwhile, Plymouth boss Paul Sturrock has explained precisely why midfielder David Norris was left out of his side for Saturday's cup tie with Hull City: "He has got sickness and diarrhoea. I found out about eight o'clock [on Saturday] morning.

"The doc went to see him and the sickness had finished, but the diarrhoea had not, and I was not prepared to send him out there in his white shorts."

Norris will also be left out of Plymouth's next league game, a trip to Burnley, as he is suspended.

Contrary to the match report, the incredible Pompey miss in the second half was by John Utaka and not Niko Kranjcar.
