Robert Set to Sign for Derby - Ipswich Town News
Former Newcastle man Laurent Robert is set to join Derby County this week after a trial. The 32-year-old turned down a similar spell with the Blues after attending the home game with Burnley with Town coach Charlie Woods, the Magpies' chief scout during Robert's time at St James' Park.
Derby boss Paul Jewell says he has been impressed with the ex-French international since he began his try-out at Pride Park last Friday: "He's done exceptionally well in training, and hopefully he will be a Derby player on Tuesday.
"I would think he will be on a short-term contract, but I don't want to say too much until it's done and dusted."
