Richards Had Cold - Ipswich Town News

Midfielder Matt Richards was withdrawn from the reserves side which defeated Peterborough 2-0 this afternoon due to a cold. The 23-year-old, who was at Playford Road but took no part in the game, was initially named in the side but was withdrawn at the last minute.

Richards's absence prompted speculation that the one-time England U21 international, contracted to the Blues until 2009, was set for another move, either on a loan or permanent basis.

Meanwhile, the Blues are claimed to have been interested in former Newcastle United full-back Andy Griffin, who is on the verge of joining Stoke City from Derby County.

Elsewhere, ex-Town midfielder Kevin Horlock has had his contract with Doncaster Rovers cancelled by mutual consent. The former Northern Irish international, 35, has rarely featured during the last two seasons due to a variety of injuries.
