Dalglish on Trial? - Ipswich Town News

Town are reported to be giving a trial to 30-year-old former Norwich City striker Paul Dalglish. The Scot is currently with US side Houston Dynamo, who he helped to the MLS Cup last year.

Dalglish is well-known to Blues coach Steve Foley from their time at Carrow Road together between 1999 and 2002.

The former Liverpool trainee looks a surprise target, having last played English football with Scunthorpe in League Two in 2003 during a loan spell from Blackpool. Prior to that Dalglish had been with Newcastle, Norwich and Wigan.

More recently the 5ft 9in tall frontman was playing with Linfield in Northern Ireland, Modena in Italy and Hibs and Livingston in Scotland.

A switch back to England would also be a shock from Dalglish's perspective, the one-time Soccer AM interviewer having previously stated his intention to stay in the US long-term.

Meanwhile, Scottish reports claim Town are poised to make a bid for Hibs defender Rob Jones. The 6ft 7in tall former Grimsby man is known to be a player Jim Magilton rates highly and the Blues have long been tipped to make a move for the 28-year-old.

Everton are again linked with Danny Haynes by a national tabloid with £600,000 claimed to be the fee the Toffees are hoping to pay for the England U19 international.
