Banning Orders for Leeds Fans - Ipswich Town News

Thirteen Leeds supporters received Football Banning Orders (FBOs) yesterday for incidents relating to the pitch invasion during Town's visit to Elland Road at the end of last season. The 1-1 draw all but relegated the Whites, leading to the invasion which held up play for 30 minutes.

At Leeds Crown Court yesterday 11 men and two youths pleaded guilty to affray during the incident which involved around 200 fans.

The 13 were part of a smaller group of around 100 which headed for the Town enclosure where they threw coins, bottles and a corner flag towards Blues supporters, with wheelchair-bound fans at the front of the section finding themselves in the firing line.

The Recorder of Leeds, Peter Collier QC, said: "Unfortunately among the Ipswich supporters were a number of disabled people who could not flee as they were in wheelchairs.

"Many of them were frightened and a number of them suffered injuries by items thrown from the pitch."

The FBOs mean the 13 are banned from all domestic and England matches, are prevented from coming within a mile of Elland Road on match days and from being within five miles of away grounds where Leeds are playing. Between them, the FBOs total 45 years.

Six of the Leeds fans were given prison sentences in addition to the FBOs.

Meanwhile, former Blue Kevin Horlock has joined Scunthorpe United after his Doncaster Rovers contract was settled by mutual consent earlier in the week.
