Norris Set to Ask for Move? - Ipswich Town News

Town target David Norris is said to be close to formally requesting a transfer from Plymouth, according to a national newspaper. The Blues are understood to be continuing discussions with the Pilgrims regarding Norris, having had a bid turned down earlier this month.

The 26-year-old is claimed to be unhappy that Plymouth are pricing him out of a move to Town or any of the other interested clubs. In addition to the Blues, Leicester, Norwich and Southampton have also been linked.

Town had a bid of £1 million rising to £1.5 million refused with the Pilgrims believed to be holding out for £2 million. The situation is complicated by a 50% sell-on clause due to Norris's former club Bolton if he moves on.

In November, chairman Paul Stapleton stated his intention to offer the midfielder a new deal during January, but despite widespread reports of an extended contract being under discussion, Plymouth are yet to confirm that this is the case.

Meanwhile, on-trial Town defender Michael Synnott will miss out on a chance to impress York City's management in a game situation this evening as their reserve match with Scunthorpe has been postponed.

Synnott was due to play two games for the Minstermen's second string and impressed in his first appearance last week. The Irish U21 international is out of contract at the end of the season and is likely to be available on a free transfer.

Elsewhere, former academy striker Craig Reid is on trial with League Two Chester City.
