Jim Trying to Stay Patient - Ipswich Town News

Boss Jim Magilton is trying to stay patient despite the Blues failing to land any of their targets during the first 16 days of the transfer window. Town have made three bids, for Plymouth's David Norris, Leicester's Gareth McAuley and a third as yet unnamed player.

Magilton told the club site: "Patience is not my greatest virtue, but that's the nature of the situation we are in.

"We have made three bids and there are other irons in the fire. We are speaking to other clubs to find out if players are available, but there are a lot of cat and mouse games going on at the moment.

"Some clubs are reluctant to let players go until they have got in replacements, so you have a chain effect, almost like buying a house. We have to be patient. It's frustrating, but that's the way it is."

Magilton says high valuations are being put on players: "I don't know if it's to do with the transfer window, but there are a lot of inflated prices around at the moment.

"But we will not be pushed into paying over the odds for a player. We will pay the right price for the right player."

Meanwhile, Scottish reports continue to link the Blues with Aberdeen frontman Lee Miller. Blackpool have had a £110,000 bid for the 24-year-old turned down with the Blues reported to be watching the situation and the Dons ready to offer the Lanark-born striker a new deal at Pittodrie.

Miller, 6ft 2in tall, started his career at Falkirk, before Bristol City paid £300,000 for his services in July 2003. The striker failed to make an impact in England and went on loan to Hearts in January 2005, remaining with the Edinburgh side for the rest of that season.

With Hearts wanting to make the move permanent and Aberdeen also interested, Miller instead moved to Dundee United for £225,000 during that summer.

After a disappointing spell at Tannadice, the Scotland B international was given a free transfer to Aberdeen in August 2006 where his career has again taken an upturn. This season he has scored eight goals in 29 appearances.
