Estonian Linked With Championship Trio - Ipswich Town News

Estonian international left winger Joel Lindpere's agent says Town, Wolves and Stoke City are all interested in his player. The 26-year-old is currently playing with Norwegian side Tromsø.

Lindpere's agent Bryan Yeubrey told the Norwegian press that the former Flora Tallinn man was first noticed during qualifying for the European Championships: "Ipswich have made their interest clear, as have Stoke and Wolves. They all saw him play against England and know he is a decent player."

Tromsø chief executive Tom Bendiksen says he would want a fee larger than the one the agent has so far suggested: "We are well aware of Ipswich's interest in Lindpere. There are no bids on the table, but the agent has mentioned a £400,000 price, which is not enough for us to consider selling a decent international midfielder."

Lindpere cost Tromsø £50,000 when he signed from Estonian side Flora a year ago. Capped 57 times by his country, scoring five goals, Lindpere started his first team career with JK Nõmme Kalju in 1997 when only a 15-year-old.

The following season he joined Lelle SK, then two years later he was signed by Flora Tallinn, Estonia's biggest club, with whom he played against a Town side including Jim Magilton when they were on a pre-season tour of the Baltic state in 2000. A switch to FC Valga followed in 2001, but he returned to Flora only a year later.

A spell with CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria was next with Lindpere still only 22, despite his innumerable moves, but after only one season he rejoined Flora for a third spell.

In February last year, he signed a two-year deal with Tromsø, who play in the Tippeligaen, the Norwegian top division.
