Norris Deal Today? - Ipswich Town News

The deal to bring David Norris to Portman Road from Plymouth could be completed today, according to sources in the South-West. The 26-year-old's switch from Argyle to Town has been the longest running saga of the transfer window with the Blues making three offers for the midfielder.

Town are believed to be paying £2.25 million for the former Boston and Bolton man with the Trotters receiving 50% of the fee.

Meanwhile, numerous Premier League keepers — including summer target Richard Wright - have already been suggested on the TWTD Message Board as possible candidates to take over from Neil Alexander in the Town goal at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. However, earlier in the month, TWTD received a tip that Aston Villa glovesman Thomas Sørensen might be amongst Jim Magilton's January targets.

At the time, with Alexander established in the side and no move looking likely, we were sceptical, but the Danish international is looking for a move to play first team football and has been linked with other Championship sides.

Elsewhere, rumours regarding Alan Lee moving to Coventry City have resurfaced. The Irish striker was linked with the Sky Blues in the summer, but their financial situation meant that they were unable to make a bid.

Money is now less of a problem at the Ricoh Arena after former Manchester City defender Ray Ranson's recent takeover and Lee is believed to be more amenable to a switch to the East Midlands than he would be a move to Burnley, who made an enquiry last week.

Town have been linked with Coventry strikers Dele Adebola and Leon Best and, if the rumours prove to be true, a part-exchange deal involving one of those two would not be a surprise.
