Redknapp: Nugent Will Join Town This Week - Ipswich Town News

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed that he expects David Nugent to join the Blues on loan later this week. The former Preston striker will move to Portman Road once he is over his current thigh injury.

Redknapp said: "It should be tied up in the next few days. It's a good deal for us financially too which is important. Peter Storrie has been dealing with their chairman, and they've made a good offer.

"Lots of club have asked about taking David, but Ipswich are the only ones to come forward with a decent offer.

"David is interested in going, so we're just waiting for his injury to clear up, which should be in the next few days."

Nugent was linked with a move to the Blues prior to the transfer window opening and rumours that he could be on Jim Magilton's wish-list continued throughout January until the Town boss confirmed his interest last week.

The 22-year-old is over his recent hernia operation, but picked up a minor thigh injury in training which was expected to be fine by the middle of this week.
