Synnott Released - Ipswich Town News

Town have told defender Michael Synnott that he will not be offered a new contract when his current deal expires in the summer. On Wednesday TWTD revealed that the Blues were also releasing defender Ollie Fenn and goalkeeper Andy Plummer.

Synnott, who has one Irish U21 cap, was a member of the 2005 FA Youth Cup-winning side but much of his time with the Blues was hampered by a series of injuries.

Boss Jim Magilton told the club site: "Michael has not been able to break into the first team squad here and it's important that we give him every chance to get his career going elsewhere.

"He will continue to play in the reserves for us until the end of the season, but we will be trying to find him a new club before then if possible and we wish him every success in the future."

In January Synnott had a spell on trial with York City where he played two reserve games, but the 21-year-old was not offered a contract by the Blues Square Premier club.
