Roberts Apologises for Role Refusal - Ipswich Town News

On-loan Town midfielder Gary Roberts has apologised to Crewe Alexandra coach Steve Holland after refusing to play in the role assigned to him during the Railwaymen's 0-0 draw with Northampton at the weekend.

Holland says Roberts was replaced at the break due to the disagreement: "Gary didn't want to do the job we asked him to do. We had a discussion about it at half-time and he still didn't want to do it, so we had to make the change.

"We then tried to play three up front to stretch their back three. But the situation was resolved as Gary came to me on the final whistle and apologised. That is terrific, so we move on and it is the end of story."

Roberts is on a one-month loan at Gresty Road and the Alex have already asked Town about continuing his spell for a further month. The former Accrington Stanley man is contracted to the Blues until the summer of 2010.
