Jim Confirms Kuqi Loan - Ipswich Town News
Boss Jim Magilton has confirmed that Shefki Kuqi is rejoining the Blues on loan from Crystal Palace for the rest of the season, as first reported by TWTD earlier today. Kuqi will go into the squad for tomorrow's game with Charlton if the paperwork is completed in time.
Magilton confirmed that the 31-year-old is coming in as cover for Jon Walters, who looks likely to need a knee operation in the next few days: "We had to move quickly with the news that Jon will be out and Shefki is available and ready to come in and do his bit.
"We sought David Nugent last month because for the first time for a long while we had the cash to do that.
"But it came down to the individual and there are few Premier League clubs who are reluctant to let their players go.
"Shefki's arrival is not a last resort and we all know what he can do. He will be lifted by our crowd and the team also needs a lift after Tuesday's disappointing display with a 4-1 defeat at Barnsley.â€Â
Kuqi looks likely to start on the bench against the Addicks, while Magilton has confirmed he is continuing his search for a loan defender but won't be bringing anyone in before the weekend.
